Michigan Sleep Solutions

Our Services

From Testing to Treatment, Michigan Sleep Solutions’ goal is to get you and your loved ones sleeping better!

Michigan Sleep Solutions was founded with one goal in mind; To help patients sleep better by offering a different approach to sleep apnea treatment. Did you know that over 22 million Americans have some form of undiagnosed sleep apnea?

We feel that is too many and created our sleep solutions center to do something about it. Rather than focusing on CPAP therapy, we turned our attention to the mouth and how we could use dentistry to help treat sleep apnea symptoms. When you specialize in something, you get really good at it, and we feel we are experts in treating sleep apnea through this method.

Do you wake up with headaches, been told by your dentist that you grind your teeth, or your partner has told you that you snore? If you answered yes to any of these, our holistic approach to treating sleep apnea will alleviate all of these symptoms and more!

What Do We Do?

Many sleep apnea symptoms start with concerns found in the patient’s mouth and throat. In fact, over 25% of Americans snore regularly. While you might think that snoring is a common symptom to experience, it can be wreaking havoc on your sleep and poses a great risk to your overall health. Michigan Sleep Solutions is designed to be your good sleep advocate and has solutions to all of your sleep needs.

What Differentiates Us

By offering a holistic approach to sleep apnea treatment using sleep dentistry techniques, we can treat your sleep apnea faster and more conveniently than other sleep clinics. We feel our oral device offers significant advantages over the common CPAP machines and have seen better results from patients who have used our devices. If you struggle with getting a good night’s sleep, you need to contact the sleep specialists at Michigan Sleep Solutions. Our name says it all; we offer solutions for your sleep problems! Let us get you back to sleeping great again.

Oral Device Therapy

Our sleep dentists will create a custom mouthguard using impressions taken from your mouth. The mouthguard will be adjusted over time and creates more room in the patient’s mouth, leading to fewer opportunities for the soft tissues to collapse and occlude the airway. This occlusion is what leads to snoring in the first place. By shifting the tongue and adding more structure to the soft tissue in the throat, the patient will have a decrease in snoring episodes. As a bonus, if the patient also suffers from teeth clenching or grinding, the mouthguard will remove these symptoms as well! An oral device is much easier to maintain compliance with than a CPAP machine. Our devices do the exact same thing a CPAP machine would do: open the airway caused by the collapsed soft tissue and keep it open throughout the night. A few points to consider about mouthguards.

  1. They are not loud and will not disturb the sleep of your partner.
  2. Oral Devices are easier to use and you do not have to worry about a mask; simply pop in your mouthguard before bed each night and enjoy a restful sleep.
  3. Their design is much easier to get used to, and patients hardly know they are wearing one after a few weeks.

Sleep Apnea Testing

Michigan Sleep Solutions tests for sleep apnea a little differently than most other sleep clinics. Our goal is convenience, and we do not want the inconvenience of going to a sleep lab to be the reason why you don’t get tested for your sleep apnea.

Our tests are all administered in your own home. We use the WatchPat One device to measure your sleep patterns.

This device is about the size of a smartwatch and is worn on your wrist. A pulse oximeter meter attached to the device goes on your finger and will measure your sleep patterns. This is the extent of the test. There are no wires to contend with, and you are not hooked up to any machines.

The test is extremely convenient because you don’t have to leave your home and can complete the test whenever you want.
